Integrated maintenance, inventory and quality engineering decisions for multi-product systems

Abstract It is essential for manufacturers to consider the interrelation among quality, inventory, and maintenance decisions detect imperfect quality products, keep production system in good operating condition, manage inventory costs. Hence, this paper aims develop an integrated model of planning, engineering, scheduling which expected total cost per time unit minimised by determining sample size, sampling interval, control limit coefficient, along with cycle time. In regard, multi-product manufacturing considered, shortage satisfying demand each product type idle during are not allowed. assumed that process starts in-control condition where most produced units conforming. However, due occurrence assignable cause (AC), mean moves out-of-control a significant fraction non-conforming produced. The efficiency proposed mathematical evaluated numerical example, then sensitivity important inputs analysed. Finally, comparative study based on Taguchi design approach given confirm capability achieve remarkable savings.
